Juneteenth

Today we celebrate Juneteenth! Juneteenth is an annual holiday which observes the end of slavery in the United States.  It marks the day, June 19, 1865, when news of emancipation reached people in the deepest parts of the former Confederacy in Galveston, Texas.  This day became a federal holiday in 2021 after President Joe Biden signed the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act.
