Fractions, Part 1
Having taught in Richmond Hill, Far Rockaway, and now Long Island, the one math skill I’ve found most challenging in any area is fractions. Before you can even teach the skill of adding or subtracting fractions, children need to understand what is a fraction.
Fractions are a numerical amount that is not a whole number. There is a numerator (the top number) that tells you how many parts there are. There is also a denominator (the bottom number) that tells you how many equal parts the whole has been divided into.
There are different ways to represent fractions, as part of a group, on a number line, with fraction bars and a fraction circle.
There is so much involved when trying to teach a child about fractions. If you see your child struggling with fractions or any academic area, I’ve learned that time alone won’t solve the problem. I’ve also learned that Advance Scholars tutoring service will solve your child’s academic problems! We provide certified teachers in every academic area. Don’t hesitate for your child to get further and further behind. Call Advance Scholars at 646/717-1015 today! We are here when you us!
